VEDA backs education, factory projects
The Vermont Economic Development Authority approved $8.8 million in financing to support projects ranging from expansion at a secondary school to the reclaiming of a vacant factory with a total value of $10.5 million, VEDA said on Monday.
"A variety of VEDA programs will be tapped to enhance growth in manufacturing, educational, agricultural and small business sectors of Vermont's economy," VEDA Chief Executive Officer Jo Bradley said in a statement.
The VEDA board approved:
Lyndon Institute Inc., Lyndon: $5.4 million in tax-exempt industrial revenue bonds for the construction of a 26-room dormitory allowing the secondary school to significantly increase its boarding student program. The Union Bank will act as trustee for the bond issue, with the Community National, Lyndonville Savings and Passumpsic Savings Bank also participating in the financing.
