Tata asks telcos to work out feasible solution on verification
Mumbai, July 21. (PTI): Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata has asked telecom operators to come out with a feasible solution to iron out differences on subscriber identification. The department of Telecom, in its recent order, had asked the telecom service providers to stop the services of subscribers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Haryana and Hyderabad circles whose identification has not been completed. "We have to find out a solution...some way or the other we have to find a solution," Tata said here. The industry is trying to push the issue under the carpet when it should be working out a way to solve the problem, he said. Although, Tata has supported DoT's proposal, other CDMA and GSM operators are saying that a 100 per cent physical verfication is a complete impossibility in view of a colossal subscriber base.
