The Waxahachie ISD board of trustees met Monday night to take action on several bid proposals and policy changes as well as receive updates on district programs, including Global High and a proposed expansion of the Ellis Central Appraisal District office.Superintendent Dr. James Wilcox reported that renovations on the Wilemon campus will be completed by Aug. 1 in preparation for the opening of Global High next year."I think the Wilemon building will be better than it was brand new," he said.Wilcox also addressed the idea of holding a school board meeting at the renovated facilities, possibly the joint board and city of Waxahachie meeting in August. He also reported several Global High employees visited High Tech High in San Diego, Calif., to study early college high schools similar to the proposed Global High, and that the Navarro College board is working well with the district.
CLEMSON Clemson University head coach Tommy Bowden said Wednesday the school is aware of and will address potential NCAA violations.
The concerns arose in the aftermath of the death of Clemson mens track assistant Jarrett Foster in a boating accident on Lake Keowee last Saturday.
A pair of Clemson senior offensive linemen Nathan Bennett and Roman Fry were involved in the incident. Mr. Bennett was driving a Yamaha WaveRunner, with Mr. Foster as his passenger, when the craft capsized. A second WaveRunner, which Mr. Fry was driving, was following close behind.
Mr. Frys WaveRunner struck Mr. Foster, 32, who was later pronounced dead from head injuries at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.
According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the WaveRunners the players were driving are owned by a pair of family members with ties to IPTAY, the Clemson athletic departments fundraising arm.
